Message from the President

July 1, 2010

Hello Wisconsin SGNA Members!

Entrance to SGNA National Course 2010 Writing presidential messages run the gamut from easy to hard, depending on whether you have something to say or you have to pass on bad news. This was an easy task. Much has been going on with WSGNA, and all the news is good.

I just returned from our national conference in Orlando, Florida. The setting was beautiful and the conference was very interesting and informative. Wisconsin SGNA was well represented. Attendees had the opportunity to watch our outgoing national president, Theresa Vos, pass the gavel to Peggy Gauthier. The fact that they’re both from Wisconsin is no small source of pride. Check out our website for some great photos.

On the local level, our March satellite conference was a smashing success. We demonstrated that such conferences are a cost effective way of providing accessible professional education. Attendance at both sites was good and the feedback we received from attendees, vendors, and presenters was very positive. We look forward to another such endeavor August 11. A flyer was mailed to members and details are in newsletter and on our website.

The Multiregional conference will take place in Schaumburg, Illinois on October 16th and 17th. Also, don’t forget to set some time aside to attend the WSGNA fall conference in LaCrosse on November 5th and 6th. Details for both of these conferences will be posted on our website as they develop.

On a more mundane, but no less important level, our treasurer, Chris Crevcoure, working with our board, has done a thorough review of our financials. We’re in great shape and we’re standardizing our accounting practices.

As you can see, there have been many positive developments at WSGNA. But we can’t rest on our laurels, so we seek your feedback and participation. The possibilities for professional development are limitless.

Have a wonderful summer!

Margaret Hauser-Ullman, RN, CGRN
WSGNA President
