Message from the President

March 2, 2011

Dear Wisconsin SGNA members,

Just as we are basking in the glory of our Packers team bringing home the Lombardi Trophy to Titletown, WSGNA can be proud of the team work that has allowed us to reach new horizons.  It has been our good fortune to have our own Peggy Gauthier lead SGNA to new alliances and greater collaboration with our colleagues in various specialties. Thank you Peggy for your commitment to excellence and your stellar leadership on the national level.

I would next like to acknowledge our Past-President, Margaret Hauser-Ullman. She had the courage to initiate the first educational web broadcast for WSGNA. She overcame roadblocks and blazed a new trail for WSGNA & SGNA in utilizing this newer technology for our organization. A few of her other initiatives include reaching out to affiliated organizations such as CCFA, Fox Valley Tech Culinary Arts Program, and Children’s Hospital of WI to collaborate in the care and education of our patients. Her leadership has set a high standard for WSGNA and we are all indebted to her for enhancing and advancing the goals of WSGNA.

The other members of the BOD have also been instrumental in achieving new and higher goals for WSGNA. We look forward to another year filled with opportunities for education and networking with our membership. In recognition of you, the dedicated and committed members of WSGNA, we have applied for the Outstanding Region Award. The BOD believes the collective efforts of our vibrant region is worthy of consideration for this award. We hope to bring this “trophy” home from Indianapolis for you.

This coming year we will have the Spring conference on April 29th & 30th in Franklin, a webinar in August, and we will host Multi-regional in Waukesha October 7th-9th. The National course is in the Midwest this year in Indianapolis May 6th-11th. I hope you can join your colleagues at some of these exciting and informative offerings.

We continue to invite you, the members, to consider direct participation in WSGNA by running for a Board position, perhaps planning an educational conference, or attending an educational offering.  WSGNA can continue to grow with your help in recruiting your colleagues to join SGNA and receive the benefits you enjoy.

I look forward to working with you this year as we continue to create new opportunities for professional growth and collaboration in WSGNA. Stay warm and enjoy the fun activities of our Winter season.

Yours truly,
Lynn Miller, BSN, RN, CGRN
