I hope you have survived the winter! Spring is looking pretty good about now. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you again at the spring conference in Green Bay on April 4. I am very appreciative to the planning committee for their efforts to provide GI nurses and associates this educational offering. It looks to be an interesting day.
The Board of Directors has been working on the website changes. I hope you have all had a chance to peruse the site. We are now in the process of developing a new logo and that should be forthcoming soon. We welcome comments and suggestions for the website.
Here is an update on future conferences:
We are looking for volunteers to host/plan the WSGNA educational conferences. Right now we have a tentative commitment from La Crosse for the fall of 2010. If anyone is interested, please contact a board member. Besides a planning manual, there is close communication with board members for any questions or help needed. We realize that there have been many cutbacks recently but that is all the more reason for you to continue with your professional development. Advanced knowledge is valued in the health field. Volunteering to plan an educational course will enhance your skills. Please consider exploring this area of professional growth. It is a great learning experience and you’ll achieve immense satisfaction from your accomplishment.
The Board of Directors is looking for two new board members to serve the term 2010-2011. The positions that will be vacated at the end of 2009 will be Secretary and Director-at-Large for Membership and Nominations. If you are interested or just have some questions, please contact one of the board members per email or phone. Check the website for BOD position “perks.” No, the board positions do not receive monetary compensation, but we do provide reimbursement for travel and a stipend for educational courses. Not to mention the opportunities for networking with colleagues, making new friends, accepting new challenges, gaining new skills, and keeping WSGNA alive and well!
As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions at mary.fiebelkorn@phci.org or 262-928-7614.
Mary Fiebelkorn BSN, RN, CGRN
